In my decade-plus career as an interior designer in Des Moines, IA, I have come to appreciate that we are all the best versions of ourselves in the spaces that ease and inspire us.

So what does “Full Service” design actually mean?

That is a fair and common question that we get asked often during our Discovery Calls. Our role as a full-service design firm is to provide you with white-glove, concierge-level service to complete your project in its entirety. Full Service means we are in the driver’s seat from start to finish handling the details…all of them. Nothing will be left feeling incomplete. Because that wouldn’t feel very luxurious would it? Your desired outcome is discussed during our In-Home Consultation and our Design Fee Proposal is based on the agreed upon scope and scale of design.

We begin by working closely with you to analyze your lifestyle needs and goals, your home's potential, and investment alignment. We then develop and execute a comprehensive design plan that includes everything from construction/remodel documents, as necessary, to selecting and sourcing finishes, furniture, fixtures and the ever so important, final styling. We enlist our project management skills to work with architects, general contractors and other trades. You do nothing but relax and get ready to be wowed on reveal day! When we’re through, we will have brought your space to its fabulous completion.

Just because you “could” do something, doesn’t mean you should. When you call a luxury full-service design firm, there isn’t going to be an option to DIY as part of the process and project…because full-service design has nothing to do with DIY, and everything to do with trusting a professional to handle everything for you.

FULL SERVICE INTERIOR DESIGN PHASES 

1. Design Plan Phase - (after design fee proposal and scope of work are accepted and paid for)

• Project Kickoff Meeting: Review and sign LOA, we’ll measure and conduct a “Concept Ideation” exercise to target style, form, aesthetic, mood, color direction, and space planning

• Design Concept Presentation Meeting: detailed construction/remodel plan(s) drawn to-scale, a custom color story for the space, a furniture, fixtures and materials plan and conceptual style and accessories plan. Preliminary budget to complete the space is presented.

• Final Design Plan Presentation Meeting:

  • actual furnishings and textiles we recommend for your space(s)

  • scaled drawings and renderings, including a custom color story for the space(s)

  • up to two detailed renderings of the space complete with furnishings, lighting, window treatments, etc.

  • material specifications for flooring, walls, trim, doors, and windows

  • construction documents including completed Reflected Ceiling Plan for the electrician

2. Procurement/Build Phase

• Design Plan Approval: product approval sign off and furnishings payment in full

• Windland Design orders all furnishings and products on your behalf

• Detailed schedule creation for installation

• Construction and renovation management

• Organized logistics tracking and problem solving including scheduling deliveries and receiving products as they arrive

• Project troubleshooting and problem solving (project management)

• Final Style Plan presentation for installation day

3. Completion Phase

• Final installation planning

• Project troubleshooting and problem solving (project management)

• Reveal Day prep

• Accessory and style plan prep and organization

• Delivery, Installation and Reveal Day

• Photo shoot day

• Final walk through

step 2: the Consultation

AFTER your Discovery Call, Barbara will typically recommend an In-home Initial Design Consultation. You'll get up to 90 minutes at your home in person or virtually, to discuss the spaces that need our assistance. If this is a new build or relocation, no worries, we can always review floor plans, house layouts, and concepts with you during our visit. This vital meeting allows us to get to know each other, learn about your pain points, and evaluate the possibilities, the potential, and sometimes even the pitfalls of your project of which you may not even be aware. We will also share with you our process of making sure all of your needs and wishes are met.

step 3: the proposal

AFTER the In-home Consultation, we'll send you a specifically tailored to you follow-up report outlining our findings and suggestions for your best outcome. A design fee will be recommended for you based on your desired level of guidance and collaboration, the scope of work, and the estimated investment range needed to complete the project to match your expectations.
